After sometime when you start to feel better you can start eating hard food again. For the first 48 hours, the dentist will recommend you to take soft food which I have told above also. And on the third day, the dentist says that you should eat food like eggs, toast, or oatmeal. Then on the fourth or fifth day, you can gradually start increasing the quantity of sold food which required more chewing in your diet. In most cases, people start eating normally after a week.
What to Eat After Wisdom Teeth Removal?
You need to give some time to your mouth so that it can heal after the removal of the wisdom teeth. You can eat the following products after the surgery for the first 48 hours.
- apple sauce
- broths and blended soups
- mashed potatoes
- Jell-O, pudding, and ice cream
Some of the soft food like ice-cream and Jell-O are cold so they provide comfort to your mouth. You can start eating hard food after some time in most cases the dentist recommends you to start eating normally after a week.
What Not to Eat After Wisdom Teeth Removal?
There is a lot of food which the dentist recommends you not to eat. Here are those food forms which you should stay away especially from the first 48 hours.
- Acidic and spicy foods (including citrus juice) may cause irritation and pain.
- Alcoholic beverages can irritate the area and are likely to interact negatively with the pain medication prescribed by your doctor.
- Grains (including rice and quinoa) and any types of seeds can easily become trapped in the extraction site.
- Hard or difficult-to-chew foods (including nuts, chips, and jerky) can reopen the stitches and delay healing.
Other than that, you should also avoid smoking. And also stay from tobacco for at least 72 hours.
How Long After Wisdom Teeth Removal Can I Eat a Burger?
Basically crunchy or tough food like burger is said to be avoided after the removal of wisdom teeth. You can eat burger after 7 days of your wisdom tooth removal but you have to be careful about how you chew it.
