The surgery usually takes 45 minutes. It is a painful extraction; the patient is given anesthesia where the surgery is carried out. After the surgery, you might feel some changes. Due to the wound, some stitches might need to close the wound. They are removed almost after a week of the surgery. Usually, after the removal there is this question in every patient’s mind, when can I eat solid food after wisdom teeth removal? Due to hectic surgery, exhaustion and dizziness due to injected anesthesia make the patient sleepy. Rests for few hours don’t rush for anything. What can you eat after the surgery?

  • Have soft food like oats or soup
  • Drink lots of water and have liquid food.
  • Have ice cream to soothe the infected area
  • Don’t have too much hot food. As your mouth is already sensitive

After effects

It takes almost a week to get fully recovered as it is major and critical surgery. It is a gradual and slow process, you will feel an improvement every day but you need to take the precautions seriously to avoid breaking the stitches or damaging any nerve. After-effects can be

  • Swelling of gums
  • Sensation of pain
  • Bruising on the infected area
  • Dizziness after the surgery

All the above-mentioned things are expected to be experienced in this process. The recovery will take place step by step. Within 24 hours of blood clotting, swelling should be improved in 2 to 3 days. After a week stitches can be removed. Jaw stiffness is recovered.  The recovery may differ from patient to patient depending on how careful they have been.
